Ever since I can remember I’ve been enamored by the moon. As fall approaches, the chance of seeing a harvest moon increases each day. But while I wait for that gorgeous sight, I’ll be staring at this Katharine Dress in Mod Half Moon from Karina Dresses.
Karina Dresses was founded on the idea of creating high-quality dresses that allow women of all sizes to feel beautiful in their own skin. On top of that, they’re made right here in the U.S. They provide a wide-array of styles and patterns that dazzle the senses and ensnare the mind’s creativity for curating an outfit. Dress them up or down, but you can never go wrong with one of their gowns.
The Katharine embraces the most casual, and less popular, silhouette of the 1950s New Look Dress. This design incorporates a high neckline and a slightly draped bodice with a wrap top to help cinch the waist. The wrap ties around the back for a taught look and flows to the front for a signature knot near the hip. The sleeves are the perfect elbow length for the changing season and fall in line with the original style.
Of course, I can’t write about this dress without discussing the print. The gorgeous Mod Half Moon print allows me to embrace my pinup side and my Harry Potter/Wednesday Addams/all-around-spooky side. The brown backdrop provides just enough darkness for the burgundy, light purple, and soft cream half moons to shine. This pattern is part of Karina’s Signature line, in which all of their prints are designed in-house.
Like all of Karina Dresses pieces, the Katharine comes in a variety of prints and sizes. It is available in sizes XS-XXL with plenty of stretch in the fabric. I’m wearing my usual size, S/M, which fits like a glove. For reference, my measurements are 36″ bust and 28″ waist. If you’re unsure of which size will work best for you, be sure to check out their size guide, but as mentioned above, each garment has a fair amount of stretch since they’re made from breathable microfiber (which also means you’ll never have to iron again!).
The Katharine is priced at $108, which is the standard price for Karina Dresses’ garments. As I’ve mentioned in the past, this is a bargain considering that their dresses are the most comfortable pieces of clothing I’ve ever owned, they never have to be ironed, and they’re gorgeous, which is a combination rarely found.
Shipping is for free within the U.S. for orders over $150, but for those under that price point it’s only $5. Shipping internationally will range from $20-25 depending on the location.
